Accessibility statement.
The short version
- We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA and believe we mostly meet it.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with text up to 200%, and with the system's reduced-motion setting.
- Photos of results can be uploaded from your camera roll. You never have to take a photo in the app.
- Tell us what doesn't work and we'll fix it, usually within a fortnight.
Using this app
You should be able to zoom to 400% without text running off the screen, navigate with a keyboard alone, use a screen reader (we test with VoiceOver on iOS and NVDA on Windows), turn off animation through your device settings, and read everything at a contrast of at least 4.5:1. Colour is never the only way something is shown: the green tick always comes with words.
AbilityNet's My Computer My Way has advice on making your device easier to use.
How accessible it is
We know some parts aren't there yet:
- The landing page group-chat animation announces messages one at a time. With reduced motion on they appear together, but screen readers may still read them in a slightly odd order.
- The pitch deck at
/deck.htmlis a slide format; the PDF version is tagged for reading order but a plain-text version doesn't exist yet. - Some blog illustrations have short alternative text rather than full descriptions.
- The result upload depends on a photo. If you can't take or choose one, email us and a person will help.
What we've done
- Semantic HTML throughout: real headings, lists, buttons, labels and landmarks. No click handlers on divs.
- Focus is always visible (a 3px outline) and never trapped.
- Form fields have labels, error messages are linked to their fields and announced.
- Type is a variable font served from our domain and resizes with your settings. Nothing is fixed-width.
- Every "no" in the check screen reads the same to a screen reader as to a sighted person, which is also a privacy rule.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, because of the items listed under "How accessible it is". We test each release with Lighthouse and axe, and by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader. A full independent audit is on the list for our first funded pilot.
