Terms, for humans.
The short version
- You must be 18 or over.
- Only upload your own test result and your own ID. Never anyone else's.
- A green tick means someone uploaded a recent clean result that matched their ID. It is not a medical guarantee, and we're not a clinic.
- You can't look anyone up without a valid tick of your own.
- Don't use the app to harass, stalk or pressure anyone. We'll remove you if you do.
- It's free. We don't show ads or sell your data.
- You can delete everything, any time, in one tap.
1. Who we are
Clean Sheets is run by Flex Technologies Group Ltd ("we", "us"), a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 15882806. Our registered office is 850 Green Lanes, London N21 2RS. "Clean Sheets" is the name we trade under. You can reach us at admin@flexgroup.dev.
2. What the app does
You get an STI test from a clinic or a home-testing service — not from us. You upload a photo of the result and a photo of your ID. Our software reads them, a set of rules decides, and sometimes a person on our team looks too. If the result is clean, recent, and the name matches, you get a green tick that lasts 90 days from the test date. With a valid tick you can type in someone's phone number and see whether they also hold a valid tick. That's it.
3. What a green tick means — and doesn't
A green tick means exactly this: a person uploaded a clean STI test result dated within the last 90 days, the name on it matched the ID on their account, and it covered at least chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis.
It does not mean the person is free of every infection today. Tests have window periods, people have sex after they test, and some infections aren't on standard panels. A green tick is a strong sign that someone took the same responsible step you did. Treat it as that.
We're not a clinic, a lab, a doctor or a medical device. We don't run tests, we don't diagnose anything, and our software only reads the words on a result — it doesn't test a sample or interpret one. A tick is a record that a result was uploaded, not a statement about anyone's health. Your decisions about sex, protection and risk are yours. Please keep using protection.
4. Who can use it
You must be 18 or over. You need a UK mobile number that can receive text messages (other countries are coming, but for now sign-up is UK only), and an ID document with your name on it. When you sign up you confirm you're 18 or over; we take you at your word and we don't read the date of birth from your ID. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete the account and everything in it straight away, and we don't issue a tick.
Clean Sheets is made for people in the UK. If you use it from somewhere else, the laws where you live may give you extra rights, and nothing here takes those away.
5. Your account
Your account is tied to your phone number. Keep your phone secure — anyone who can receive your texts can sign in as you. One person, one account; one number can only ever be one account. If you change number, sign in with the new one and delete the old account.
6. Being honest
Only ever upload your own test result and your own ID. Don't edit, forge or alter a result. Don't upload a friend's, a partner's or a stranger's. We check that the first and last name on the result match the ID, that the date is within 90 days, and that the same screenshot or the same provider reference number hasn't already been used on another account. To do that last check we keep two scrambled fingerprints of your result (one of the image, one of the reference number) for 90 days from the test date; they can't be turned back into the picture. Anything that looks off goes to a person. If you fake a result, we'll remove your tick and your account, and you may be putting someone else's health at risk, which is the one thing this app exists to prevent.
7. Checking people
You can only look someone up when you hold a valid tick. There's a limit on how many numbers you can check — at the moment ten an hour and thirty a day — because this is for your dates, not for the whole contacts list. Nothing is ever sent to the person you check, and we never tell them you looked.
Don't use the app to harass, stalk, pressure or shame anyone. Don't share screenshots of someone's tick status to embarrass them. Don't tell people you'll only see them if they get a tick as a way of controlling them. If someone reports that kind of behaviour and we can see it, we'll remove your account.
8. Blocking and invite-only
You can block any number from ever seeing your tick, and you can switch to invite-only so that only numbers you choose can see it. People on either list are never told they're on it. We won't reveal your lists to anyone. Your lists are stored as scrambled numbers with a secret key; if we ever have to change that key (only if it leaks), every block list and invite list is wiped and you'd need to add yours again. We'd show a notice in Settings if that happened.
9. Your tick expiring
Ticks last 90 days from the test date and then quietly go grey. Nobody is told your tick expired. Upload a new result and it comes back. We'll show you a reminder in the app before it goes.
10. How the decision is made, and asking a person to look
When you upload, software reads the two photos and a fixed set of rules decides. The rules are: the result must look like a genuine STI result; it must have a readable test date within the last 90 days; every infection listed must be negative; it must cover at least chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis; the ID must be readable and the first and last name must match; and the software must be confident about all of that. If everything passes, your tick is issued straight away, with no person involved.
If anything is unclear — a blurry photo, an unusual format, a missing infection, a name that doesn't quite match, a result that's been seen before — nobody is refused. The upload goes to a person on our team, who looks at both photos and decides, usually within the hour. That person sees your photos only for as long as it takes to decide, and the photos are deleted the moment they do.
The only thing the software says no to on its own is a positive result. If it does, you'll see "We couldn't issue a tick from this", the photos are deleted, and nothing about the result is written down. We never reveal positive results, including to the person who uploaded them, so if a person on our team declines for that reason, you'll get the same message.
You have the right not to be stuck with a decision made only by software. If you think the automatic decision was wrong — either way — email admin@flexgroup.dev and a person will look. Because the photos are deleted on every decision, you'll need to upload them again for the person to see them. You can also tell us what you think happened, and we'll take it into account.
For every upload a person looked at, we keep a short record: the text the software read from the photos (the name, the date, the results, the provider and the reference number, and the name from the ID), why it needed a person, what was decided, when and by whom. Not the photos. If a person declined because of a positive, the text is wiped and the record says only "declined". This record helps us spot fakes and check our own decisions, and it goes when you delete your account.
We can also remove a tick after it's issued if we think the result wasn't genuine, wasn't yours, or broke the rules above. We'll tell you why unless the reason relates to a positive result.
11. It's free
Clean Sheets is free to use. We don't show ads, we don't sell or share your data, and there's no paid tier. If that ever changes, we'll tell you clearly and in advance, and you'll be able to delete your account before it does.
12. Things we're not responsible for
In plain terms: we're a small team providing a free service in good faith, and we can't accept responsibility for things outside our control. That means we're not liable for:
- any infection you catch, or any decision you make, based on seeing (or not seeing) a green tick;
- a result that turns out to be fake, altered or someone else's, despite our checks;
- the accuracy of any test, kit, clinic or lab — they're separate services with their own terms;
- the app being unavailable, slow, or having bugs. We'll fix things as fast as we can.
Two things we can't and don't exclude: our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, and our responsibility for fraud. Nothing here removes any right you have under UK consumer law.
13. Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Everything goes at once: your tick, your block and invite lists, the name from your ID, any review records, the reuse-check fingerprints, your sign-in and your phone number. If an upload is still waiting for a person when you delete, that goes too, photos included. We keep no note that you were ever here.
We can suspend or delete accounts that break these terms. If we do, we'll tell you why where we safely can.
14. Changes
If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top and show you a notice in the app. If a change is significant, you'll get to read it before you continue using the app.
15. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts there. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and if you live outside the UK you keep whatever rights your local law gives you. We won't try to take those away.
16. Complaints
If something's gone wrong, tell us and we'll reply within five working days and aim to sort it within a month. If it's about your data and you're not happy with our answer, you can go to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you think someone is using the app to harass or pressure you, tell us, and if you're in danger call 999.
17. Contact
Questions, complaints, ideas, corrections: admin@flexgroup.dev. A person reads every message.
