Clean Sheets is a free app that lets you see whether your date has a recent clean STI test — without asking, and without them ever knowing you looked. This page is for the people who want to help it spread: health services, funders, charities, researchers and press.
Why we built it
Everyone knows they should ask before sleeping with someone. Almost nobody does, because the question lands at the worst possible moment and feels like an accusation. So people gamble, then quietly panic for a fortnight.
Meanwhile testing has never been easier. Free postal kits, results by text, no waiting room. Decades of public-health work made the test frictionless. The conversation stayed exactly as hard as it always was.
Clean Sheets removes the conversation instead. You get tested, you get a green tick, and you can see whether your date has one too. The catch — you can only look if you've been tested yourself — is the whole point. It turns curiosity into testing, and testing into a norm.

What we are, and aren't
Free, and staying free.
No ads, no data sales, no premium tier. It only works if everyone's on it, and everyone isn't on anything that costs money.
Private by design.
Looking someone up writes nothing anywhere. Your number is kept once, for signing in, and never shown to anyone; everywhere else it's a scrambled hash. Positive results are never shown to anyone. Photos are deleted the moment they're checked.
Not a dating app.
We don't match anyone. We sit between the dating app and the bedroom.
Not a medical service.
We don't test anyone. We send people to the free services that already exist and make using them worth it. A green tick is evidence someone tested, not a medical guarantee.

Run a 12-month regional pilot with us. We'll measure referral uplift and retest rates and publish what we find, good or bad.
Charities and foundations
Co-design with the young people you already reach. Fund the thing that keeps it free and independent.

Behavioural and epidemiological evaluation on aggregate, anonymised data. No individual data ever leaves the app.
Creators
If you talk to young people about dating, sex or health, we'd love you to try it, hate it, tell us why, and then tell them.

A clinical advisor in sexual health, a behavioural-science advisor, and a young people's advisory group who'll tell us bluntly what's wrong.
About this demo
What you're looking at is a working prototype, shown so partners can see the real thing rather than slides. It runs on real infrastructure and the four rules are enforced in code, but it isn't launched, isn't promoted, and has no clinical partner yet. Nothing in it is medical advice. If you'd like to try it with a test result of your own, do, and then delete your account from Settings when you're done.

Data protection
UK GDPR, health data handled under explicit consent, a published DPIA summary and processor list, EU hosting, deletion in one tap.
Not a medical device
The app records that a test happened. It doesn't diagnose, treat or advise, so it sits outside the UK medical device regulations. We'd rather say that plainly than imply otherwise.
Safeguarding
18+ only. Harassment, coercion or sharing someone's status gets an account removed. Anyone worried about their safety is pointed to 999 and to NHS sexual health services.
Accessibility
Built to WCAG 2.2 AA. Our statement says what we've tested and what's still rough.
Security
Encrypted everywhere, peppered hashes, private storage, security headers, and a security.txt so researchers know where to report.

- Please don't describe it as a dating app, a verification service or a medical device. It's none of those.
- Please don't say a green tick means someone "is clean". It means they uploaded a clean, recent test that matched their ID.
